Dudipatsar Lake- The most captivating lake in the Mansehra district

The breathtaking and awesome Dudipatsar Lake is located in Lulusar-Dudipatsar National Park, During the summer, the mirror-like water reflects the scenery, that attracts visitors from different parts of the country and from abroad to enjoy the enchanting views every summer. The lake water is so clear that one can ou can find trout fish in the water easily. Very cool wind blows till the lake. As the Dudipatsar is not easily accessible, this fact keeps this gorgeous lake’s peaceful and isolated environment.

What to take with you

  • Proper hiking shoes, sticks, etc required. Normal running shoes-joggers are not recommended for the trail.
  • Weatherproof clothes e.g. water-resistant jacket or a raincoat etc as there is mostly rail fall
  • Drinking water, dry fruits, biscuits, chocolate, etc

Climate conditions

During the Summer season (May-Aug) The weather is very pleasant in the daytime. At night, the temperature goes below 0. So, whenever anybody wants to visit the area should be properly prepared according to the weather conditions.

How to get there?

It is situated at a height of 12500 feet from sea level and has an average depth of 5m. There are two routes to get there. The entire trail is located in the national park and is, therefore, full of natural diversity. It will also take the hikers through many zones of the park with each zone having distinct flora & fauna.

Jalkad to Dodipatsar Track

This trek is rather tough. Do camp for a night if possible to witness the real fairies. A captivating place to trek. It takes almost a day trekking to reach there.

Besal to Dodipatsar Track

The trail base camp for Dudipatsar is located at Besal, Besal is a place between Babusartop and Naran. It is itself a beautiful place, It is about an hour’s drive from Naran. Nevertheless, from Besal, it’s a grueling 18 Km hike through lush green meadows, streams, and waterfalls, which takes about 8 to 10 hours to reach the Lake.

The entire trail is located in the national park and is, therefore, full of natural diversity. It will also take the hikers through many zones of the park with each zone having distinct flora & fauna.

Guider and Equipments

Guides– You can be hired from Naran or from guide providers from the local market easily.

Tents-Tent and other equipment like sleeping bags can be hired from the Naran market

Horses– It is a good idea to Hire horses at Besal village for carrying a person or excess baggage.
