Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was born in Dehli in 1817. He belongs to a very noble family which always served the Mughal emperors. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan is interested in the history and culture of Muslims. He earned an honorary Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society London for his work on historical writing.

In 1862 Sir Syed Ahmad Khan set up a Scientific Society to encourage the Muslims to learn scientific knowledge. In 1875 he founded the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh. This college is later known as the University of Aligarh
